Clearcut Building Solutions is a Wellington building company with a strong focus on quality, transparency and long-lasting value. They work across residential and light commercial construction, including new builds, renovations, extensions, recladding and design-led projects. Their website positions the business around clarity, communication, craftsmanship and doing the job properly from planning through to handover.
From a coaching perspective, Clearcut represents the kind of business where strong technical ability is already present. The opportunity is helping the business around that technical ability become stronger as well. In building, the owner and team are often managing complex projects, clients, subcontractors, timeframes and cash flow all at once. Without the right structure, growth can easily create more pressure instead of more value.
Our work together was about helping Clearcut continue growing with confidence, rather than allowing the day-to-day demands of the business to dictate the direction. That means supporting the owner to think clearly about the bigger picture: where the business is going, what kind of work it wants to be known for, how the team contributes, and how the numbers support long-term sustainability.
Through coaching, we helped Clearcut achieve a 45.97% increase in sales, a 46.23% increase in gross profit, and a 1,290% increase in net profit. These are strong results, but the real value is what sits underneath them: a business that is building more than projects. It is building structure, confidence, profitability and future value.
For me, Clearcut is a good example of what can happen when a capable trade business starts looking beyond the next job and begins building the business itself with the same care and intention it brings to its clients’ projects.
